Woman Fell Down Stairs, Medevaced To A.C. Hospital
The U.S. Coast Guard released video Monday of an 88-year-old woman being rescued after she fell down a stairwell on a cruise ship at sea.
The Coast Guard says the incident occurred at 9:15 p.m. Sunday about 50 miles east of Barnegat Light. A call came from a crew member aboard the 570-foot cruise ship Veendam, based out of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, reporting the passenger had suffered a head injury in the fall.
A rescue helicopter was dispatched from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., and arrived on scene. The woman was medevaced to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
No additional information on the woman’s condition was available Monday.
