In dramatic new video posted by a television show “Russia Today,” a cruise ship on a nightmare voyage is shown being battered by waves near Antarctica.
According to the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators, the ship in question, the MV Clelia II, was sailing on Tuesday with 88 American passengers and 77 crewpersons aboard when it ran into bad weather and was hit by a massive wave, which doused electrical systems and broke the starboard bridge window.
As a result, communications were temporarily lost and engine performance was affected, and the disabled Clelia was tossed about in 30 foot waves. Watch the dramatic video to see the ship encountering the choppy weather!
The ship “is in no danger” according to the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators, and is expected back at port in Ushuaia, Argentina, by Thursday night. There has been only one minor injury among those onboard.
