PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The Coast Guard was called to a cruise ship Monday to medevac a passenger who had gone into shock.
The Norwegian Gem was 75 miles east of Wilmington, N.C. when the call came in to the Coast Guard. The doctor of the ship radioed Coast Guard Sector North Carolina about the 38-year-old man who went into shock onboard.
The Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. responded with a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and took the man to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
The man is in stable condition.
